Greenhills Neighbourhood House in Community Drive, Greensborough is running its first ever clothes swap from 12.30pm on Thursday 21 April 2016.
For $5 entry, you can swap 10 items that are seasonally appropriate, clean and free from noticeable faults. This includes clothes, scarves and accessories for women and children.
It’s a chance to update your wardrobe for Autumn, de-clutter your house and help raise funds for Greenhills. An afternoon tea will also be provided, so bookings are essential.
Greenhills Neighbourhood House is a not for profit organisation operating for over 30 years. With a highly regarded Occasional Childcare service, Greenhills also runs a wide range of programs to meet the needs of the local community in Greensborough. Programs range from health and well-being groups, art and craft activities and social groups for all ages. More events are planned for Greenhills in 2016 with one specific focus each month.
The centre’s coordinator, Anna Lee said that the funds raised from the clothes swap will go directly towards the centre’s community development programs.
“We run some groups for a gold coin donation to encourage a social and relaxed atmosphere that is affordable to everyone.” Ms Lee said.
“By running events such as the clothes swap, we can help support these groups to keep them going.’’
Ms Lee said that the event’s aim goes beyond the centre itself.
“Any clothes that don’t get taken home with people on the day will be made into care packages to go to local support services.’’ Ms Lee said.
‘’This meets our community development principles of supporting people in the community.”
Clothes can be dropped off prior to Thursday 21 April or brought on the day. Clothes will be organised into sizes to make it easy to choose great items.
